Madras High Court rejects plea to stop screening Dhurandhar 2 during Tamil Nadu polls

The Madras High Court has dismissed a plea seeking a halt to screening Dhurandhar 2 during the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections in the state. The plea was filed by a Madurai resident, claiming that the screening would be contrary to the spirit of free and fair elections

Amid the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, a Madurai resident had moved the Madras High Court seeking a restrain the screening of the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge during the elections. However, the Madras High Court, on Friday, dismissed a petition allowing the film to be screened.

A Bench consisting of Chief Justice SA Darmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan declined to grant any relief and dismissed the plea at the admission stage itself. Notably, the petition was filed by a Madurai resident and sought an ad-interim direction to restrain the exhibition of Ranveer Singh's film Dhurandhar 2 in Tamil Nadu across all platforms, including theatres and OTT, until the election results are declared.
