Veteran actor Anant Nag was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 by President Droupadi Murmu at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on Tuesday, September 22. The actor received a standing ovation as he stepped up to accept the country’s highest honour for contribution to Indian cinema.

The honour recognises Nag’s contribution to cinema across more than five decades and makes him only the second Kannada actor to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award after Dr Rajkumar, who was honoured in 1995.
