The stock market will remain open for regular trading on Friday, August 28 despite it being Raksha Bandhan.&nbsp;
As per the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/nses-equity-options-market-share-reduces-over-22-per-cent-between-fy24-and-fy26-23641212" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">National Stock Exchange (NSE)</a>, the festival is not included in the holiday calendar. &nbsp;Investors can buy and sell shares during the regular trading window as the festival will no disrupt the trading or the settlement process.
On Thursday, the domestic equity benchmark indices extended their losses for the second day. the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 539.35 points, or 0.70 per cent, to settle at 76,933.59, while the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 116.90 points, or 0.48 per cent, to end at 24,090.85.
Raksha Bandhan is observed in several parts of the country and according to the Reserve Bank of India&rsquo;s website, it is a bank holiday in many states.
These states include Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. Besides, it is also a bank holiday in Kerala (Shree Narayana Guru Jayanthi and Ayyankali Jayanthi) Jammu and Kashmir (Friday following Eid-I-Milad-Ul-Nabi) and Sikkim (Pang-Lhabsol).
