Government cuts windfall tax on petrol, diesel and ATF exports

The levy on petrol exports has been slashed to Rs 0.5 per litre effective September 16. It was at Rs 1.5 per litre a fortnight ago

The government on Thursday has slashed the windfall gains tax on exports of diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), as part its fortnightly review of duties on petroleum products, according to news agency PTI. 

The rate of special additional excise duty (SAED) along with road and infrastructure cess on export of diesel to Rs 20 per litre, from Rs 25 earlier, a Finance Ministry notification said. It also cut the SAED on export of ATF to Rs 15 per litre from Rs 19 a litre earlier.
