Bharti Airtel reported a 37.3 per cent increase in profit after tax to Rs 8,167 crore in the June quarter, driven by strong growth across India and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/bharti-airtel-gets-shareholders-nod-to-raise-airtel-africa-stake-by-1631-worth-rs-28000-cr-23635260" rel="none">Africa operations</a>, the company said on Tuesday.
Bharti Airtel had posted a net profit of Rs 5,948 crore attributable to the owners in the year-ago period.
Revenue from operations during the quarter increased 18.3 per cent to Rs 58,539 crore from Rs 49,462.6 crore in the June quarter a year ago.
"<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/telecom-subscriber-base-rises-to-1348-crore-in-june-trai-23642023" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bharti Airtel </a>reported consolidated quarterly revenues of Rs 58,539 crore, up 18.4 per cent year-on-year, and 5.7 per cent quarter-on-quarter, supported by strong growth across India and Africa operations," the company statement said.
The telco recorded 12.5 per cent year-over-year (YoY) growth in customer base to 60.5 crore. Its subscriber base in India grew by 12.8 per cent to 43.6 crore.
Airtel India's average revenue per user (ARPU) increased by 5.6 per cent to Rs 264 during the reported quarter compared to Rs 250 a year ago.<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/global-smartphone-revenue-rises-to-usd-109-billion-in-q2-apple-contributes-nearly-half-of-smartphone-revenue--23642574" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"> Revenues increased</a> by 9.7 per cent to Rs 41,214 crore, driven by sustained portfolio premiumisation in mobile and strong momentum in Homes and Airtel Business, the company said.
"India Mobile achieved sequential growth of 3.8 per cent, driven by continued portfolio mix improvement. Our postpaid strategy continues to deliver strong outcomes with the highest-ever customer additions of 1 million. We added 5 million smartphone customers with an industry-leading ARPU of Rs 264," Bharti Airtel executive vice chairman, Gopal Vittal, said.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/telecom/article/india-smartphone-market-sees-weakest-q1-in-years-as-rising-costs-hit-demand-23628994" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">India Mobile </a>revenue grew 9.2 per cent YoY, supported by strong customer additions and an improvement in ARPU.
"Focus on stronger portfolios led to strong net additions in the postpaid segment. We recorded the highest ever quarterly postpaid customer additions of 1 million, thereby reaching a customer base of 30 million. The smartphone data customer base grew by 21.1 million over the past year, marking a 7.5 per cent YoY increase," Airtel said. &acirc;&iquest;&iquest;
Average data consumption per customer on Bharti Airtel network in India grew by 27.7 per cent to 34.4 GB in the June 2026 quarter from 26.9 GB a year ago.
Bharti Airtel's consolidated capex during the reported quarter stood at Rs 13,386 crore, of which India capex accounted for Rs 9,698 crore.
"We expanded our network footprint by deploying 1,579 towers and 14,540 mobile broadband base stations. Over the past year, we rolled out 7,631 additional towers and deployed 45,171 kilometres of fibre, significantly enhancing the reach and resilience of our digital infrastructure," the company said.
The company's net debt dropped by about 35 per cent to Rs 81,852 crore during the reported quarter from Rs 1,25,489 crore a year ago.
