<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/indias-ecommerce-market-to-triple-to-usd-345-billion-by-2030-led-by-quick-commerce-ai-integration-23648007" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">E-commerce</a> major Amazon on Tuesday said its quick commerce offering 'Amazon Now' has reached USD 1 billion in annualised gross sales in India, according to news agency PTI.
The company claimed that with orders doubling every quarter since launch, it is the fastest-growing e-commerce business unit in Amazon India's history, adding that it has reached USD 1 billion in annualised gross sales in India, based on the sales run rate over the past three-month period.
<h2>Expansion plans</h2>
"We are on track to expand to 100 cities by Diwali," <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/amazon-releases-handbook-to-help-shoppers-identify-online-frauds-and-scams-23642685" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Amazon India</a>, country head, Samir Kumar said. At present it has presence in over 60 cities, with plans to scale it over 300 cities across the country.&nbsp;
With a delivery infrastructure that is backed by a network of over 750 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centers, the company said it continues to boost its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to offer wide selection of products by sellers to customers across the country.
"...tens of thousands of products delivered in minutes or a few hours, a wider selection of over one million within the same-day, over four million the next day and millions more with unlimited, free Prime Delivery," Amazon said.
Sellers on Amazon Now offer an expansive selection of daily essentials ranging from groceries (including fruits and vegetables and frozen food), personal care, fashion and beauty products to small appliances, home and kitchen products.
<h2>Demand for quick service</h2>
In the recent years, the quick commerce industry has seen heightened activity, fuelled by growing demand for rapid delivery of groceries and everyday essentials.&nbsp;
According to research consultancy Infisum, India's e-commerce sector is projected to grow nearly three times to USD 345 billion by 2030 from USD 125 billion in 2024, propelled by rapid expansion of quick commerce and artificial intelligence integration.
In its report titled 'Smart Growth in a Fast Market', Infisum expects the market to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.4 per cent through 2030.
According to a recent <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/flipkart-minutes-pips-swiggy-instamart-in-dark-store-count-report-23646786" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">CLSA report on the quick commerce industry</a>, "Quick commerce players are deepening their presence in existing markets while selectively expanding into new geographies. Eternal's Blinkit continues to lead this expansion. In newly entered markets, players appear to be adopting a measured rollout approach, with relatively smaller dark store footprints as they test local demand and unit economics before scaling".
The CLSA report however, excludes Amazon and JioMart from the total store count.
