Season three of the Global <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/chess-world-cup-vidit-gujrathi-opens-up-on-his-defeat-to-usa-sam-shankland-23604199" rel="nofollow">Chess</a> League (FCL) was launched in Mumbai at a grand ceremony at the Royal Opera House on Saturday.
The first of 34 GCL matches will be played on Sunday, with the Grand Finale on December 23.&nbsp;
The tournament features six teams comprising of top class players such as <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/fide-womens-world-cup-calm-divya-deshmukh-committed-fewer-mistakes-viswanathan-anand-23587141" rel="nofollow">Viswanathan Anand</a>, D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Alireza Firouzja, Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, and Wesley So, to name a few.
