Donald Trump has dropped a stunning $5,000 cash-payout proposal for American adults if Republicans win both chambers of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections. The eye-catching pledge could cost the US government roughly $1.3 trillion, based on the number of American adults. Trump has offered few details on how the payments would work or how they would be funded. Vice President JD Vance later appeared to qualify the proposal, suggesting wealthy Americans may not receive the payment and pointing toward tariff revenues as a possible funding source.
