The Gyirong border post was destroyed by a massive mudslide, while floodwaters carried debris and victims far downstream. Some bodies were reportedly recovered as far away as India. The scale of destruction has also created a massive economic challenge. Nepal's Finance Minister has estimated that the country could need around $4 billion to $5 billion for reconstruction following the disaster.
