Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy claimed that an oil supertanker carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude struck a naval mine and caught fire. According to a statement carried by Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the vessel was attempting to transit through a restricted route. The IRGC alleges that the tanker had switched off its tracking systems and was receiving US military support.
