IRAN FIRES BACK! THREE AMERICAN DRONE LOSSES CLAIMED AS US-IRAN CONFRONTATION ESCALATES. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced its latest military claims against American drones amid escalating tensions with Washington. In its latest announcement, the IRGC claimed that two American MQM-170 reconnaissance drones were brought down south of Qeshm Island using electronic warfare systems. In a separate announcement, Iran claimed that its air-defence systems intercepted and destroyed an American MQ-9 Reaper drone over the eastern Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state broadcaster IRIB has also released dramatic footage purportedly showing the MQ-9's destruction through the infrared imaging seeker of an Iranian air-defence missile. These developments follow American strikes on Iran's strategic Qeshm Island. US officials described those strikes as defensive measures after Iranian forces fired at a US aircraft over the Strait of Hormuz. Is Tehran's latest military action a retaliatory response, or is the confrontation entering another dangerous phase? The latest developments raise questions about American military operations, Iranian air-defence capabilities and the growing confrontation around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
