US Senator Chris Van Hollen has launched a fierce criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after Netanyahu released a video targeting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani ahead of his planned address to the United Nations General Assembly. Van Hollen accused Netanyahu of making false claims about Mamdani and described the Israeli prime minister as a “chronic liar”, while also invoking the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against Netanyahu over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel has rejected the allegations and disputes the ICC’s jurisdiction. The Maryland senator also turned his criticism toward Israel’s conduct in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, alleging that Netanyahu’s government has failed to provide accountability over Americans killed in the West Bank. His remarks come amid an increasingly heated political confrontation surrounding Netanyahu’s visit to New York and his upcoming UN speech. WATCH
