Month of relentless rain floods La Réole in Southwest France

After weeks of heavy rainfall, the village of La Réole in southwestern France was inundated on Tuesday as the Garonne River overflowed its banks. Authorities said the country’s flood monitoring system has been operating at an unprecedented pace due to saturated soils caused by nearly a month of continuous rain

Following a month of relentless rain, the village of La Reole was flooded by the Garonne river, south-western France, on Tuesday.

The flood alert system in France has been working at a record pace as relentless rain over the past month has saturated soils, the head of the agency said.
