A 34-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries after being caught in the firing during a clash between two rival groups in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-police-arrests-family-run-burglary-gang-in-kalyan-recovers-rs-21-6-lakh-23630851" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane district</a>, police said on Thursday, reported PTI.
Seven persons, including two juveniles, have been detained in connection with the incident, which occurred at around 11 pm on Wednesday at the Khadegolawali locality in Kalyan, they said, reported PTI.
A minor argument escalated into a clash between two groups, during which a member from one side opened fire on the other, an official from Kolsewadi police station said.
A passerby, identified as Rahul Varma, suffered bullet injuries after being caught in the gunfire. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment, the official said, reported PTI.
After being alerted, senior police officials rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
The exact reason behind the dispute between the two groups is yet to be ascertained, the official said.
Following the violence, both sides lodged cross-complaints with the police.
"We have so far detained seven persons, including two minors, in connection with the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-cop-injured-after-gang-attacks-him-in-thane-police-slaps-mcoca-on-suspects-23619269" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">firing incident</a>," the official said, reported PTI.
<h2>Two killed in Thane in separate incidents; three persons detained</h2>
In another case, two persons have been killed in separate incidents in Maharashtra's Thane city, prompting police to detain three persons, officials said on Thursday, reported PTI.
A 19-year-old youth, identified as Sahil Panchal, was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of persons near a school in the Chitalsar area around 3 pm on Wednesday, a police official said, reported PTI.
Preliminary investigations indicate the killing was the fallout of a minor argument. Three suspects have been detained so far and are being questioned, the official said.
In another incident, a 42-year-old man, identified as Mubarak alias Munna Sheikh, was allegedly stoned to death by three unidentified persons in the Talaopali area at around 9 pm on Wednesday, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/two-months-after-womans-death-thane-man-held-for-killing-her-to-evade-marriage-pressure-23634517" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">the police</a> said, reported PTI.
The motive behind the killing was yet to be established, and the Naupada police were searching for the culprits, they said.
